It was a great opportunity to fly Leah Stemmann and her 11-year old daughter, Lauren. Earlier this year, Lauren needed an angel flight from Fort McMurray to Calgary for her medical treatment. As a response, the whole team at Angel Flight Alberta pulled together to make it happen despite the extremely cold weather at the time. Thanks to one of Angel Flight Alberta’s volunteer pilots and their very capable turboprop aircraft (Cessna Conquest 1), Angel Flight Alberta was able to get Lauren to where she needed to be and turned a stressful 8-10 hour wintery drive into a comfortable one-and-a-half hour flight for her and her mom.
“Lauren has been battling cancer her entire life. She has been to chemotherapy too many times to count, and her family has gone to such incredible lengths to give their daughter the best opportunities and best life they can.”
Every Albertan should have access to the amazing medical care available in this province. Angel Flight Alberta is here to help Lauren and so many other non-emergency patients, to get to and from their important medical appointments by using the power of aviation.
